A Conversation with the GM Mark Dicker Blayney Shire Council Road Work Safety and Reporting Concerns Council is committed to enhancing public facilities and our road networks, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and well- maintained. However, it is crucial for the public to observe safety protocols, especially around active work zones. The safety of both our road crews and the public is a top priority. These areas are not suitable for public access, and it is vital that our community members refrain from approaching road crews while they are working. Engaging with workers not only disrupts their operations but also poses significant safety risks due to the heavy machinery and equipment in use. Interactions at the work site can distract crew members from their duties, potentially leading to accidents or delays in the work scheduled. Our road workers are there to improve infrastructure; their focus should be on their tasks, not on fielding public inquiries or reports. We understand that residents might have concerns, observations, or requests regarding the ongoing works or other council facilities. To address these matters efficiently and safely, we strongly encourage the use of designated channels. Council has made it easy to communicate issues or requests concerning council services and facilities through an online customer request form on our website www.blayney.nsw.gov. au via email council@blayney.nsw.gov.au or by phone on 6368 2104. Additionally, if you notice any issues with council facilities- such as broken public toilets, damaged park equipment etc.- please help us by reporting these through the above channels. This ensures that your concern is logged correctly and dealt with by the appropriate department in a timely manner. By using the proper channels to communicate with the council, residents can contribute to a smoother, safer, and more efficient maintenance process. This approach not only helps in keeping our crews and the public safe but also ensures that concerns are addressed appropriately and without delay.
