A Conversation with the GM Mark Dicker Blayney Shire Council 2024/25 Blayney Shire Council funding programs With the 2024/25 financial year commencing, now is the time to start preparing applications under Councils: Community Financial Assistance Program and/or Local Heritage Assistance Fund. Guidelines and application forms for both programs are available on Council's website www.blayney.nsw.gov.au or you can contact Council staff on 6368 2104. Community Financial Assistance Program, Round 1 Applications for Council's 2024/25 Community Financial Assistance Program are being invited until 2 August 2024 for round 1 (noting a second round will be offered in early 2025). Many of you are part of a sporting association, volunteer organisation in which a small contribution under this program can help facilitate much needed improvements. Whether it is replacing and upgrading equipment or refurbishing a facility to improve the conditions for volunteers and members of the community. Projects with contributions from other sources such as federal, state, corporate support, funds raised from users or charitable groups, cash or in-kind, will help with the success of any application. Council staff can provide preliminary feedback prior to lodgment and applicants will be contacted in the event of any errors or omissions in applications. Applicants are required to obtain a copy of the guidelines and complete the application form. Local Heritage Assistance Fund Respecting and protecting our local heritage is an important part of preserving the character and history of our Shire. That doesn't mean changes to properties cannot occur. To assist property owners, Council (in conjunction with Heritage NSW) facilitates: Free heritage advisory service (monthly), and Local Heritage Assistance Fund (LHAF). Community Directory Blayney The aim of the LHAF is to assist in co-funding (up to $1,000) the restoration of heritage items within the Shire. If you have a heritage listed property or a property in a heritage conservation area and are looking to carry out alterations or additions, then I encourage you to contact Councils Planning Department. Eligible projects are those which involve conservation, maintenance and repair works, adaptive reuse and interpretation projects on privately owned heritage buildings and precincts, gravesites, or historic remnants. These may include fences, verandahs, repainting, windows, roof cladding, painting, drainage, and decorative detail. Council News Council has launched a community directory to help local residents find all the community and sporting groups which operate in the Blayney Shire. The directory was launched as part of National Volunteer Week so it also comes with the encouragement to get involved with our local community groups, most of which are always in need of volunteers and would love to have more people involved. The directory is still a work in progress as community and sporting groups submit their details, so if you are involved with a community or sporting group, please submit via details via Councils website.
